How To Sing

The Best Uses of falsetto Voice Potential…

singing-coupleWhile the falsetto voice is commonly used by most trained singers, it has its limitations in the field of voice dynamics when compared to the modal voice. Usually the trained singers have one octave of voice range in which they can sing both modal or falsetto. In this overlapping range the modal voice will be louder than the falsetto voice sung in the same pitch. The vocal chord vibration that produces the falsetto voice cannot cater to high volumes except in the highest register. There is a limitation in the tone colors too because of the simplicity of its wave form. Modal voice is capable of more complex wave forms and tone color and hence the dynamics of the song will be of a higher level.

However the advantage of a falsetto voice is that it involves less physical effort by the singer, less strain on the vocal chords and with a little extra practice you can achieve lovely tonal effects. The falsetto voice also has a number of other effective uses in the musical context. Let me list a few of its advantages:

how-to-sing-sopranoHow to sing Soprano easily? You must first understand what is soprano in different musical contexts. A soprano under the scientific pitch notation is a singing voice with a vocal range from “middle C” which is C4  to “high A” which is A5 in Choral music. A “Soprano C” is C6 which is two octaves above middle C and it is higher in opera music. In choral style which is split into 4 parts the soprano takes the highest range which includes the melody. For other styles of singing the soprano is classified differently.

Usually the term “soprano” is used to refer female singers singing the high range. However sometimes this term is used to refer male singers singing this range with a falsetto instead of a modal voice. sing-screamoSinging “Screamo” or scream singing can be dangerous to your vocal chords if you do not use proper techniques. It is also essential to know how your vocal system works. If you follow the incorrect method of scream singing, then the vocal chords will undergo lot of tension causing big or small temporary damage.

If you try to sing screamo without perfecting your natural voice, your natural voice will get damaged beyond repair. Screamo technique and voice distortion comes with long practice. This rough sound should come with an exact flow of air in coordination with muscular pressure in the lower diaphragm.

how-to-sing-tenorIN both female and male singing voices there basically three types. There are some differences on how to sing tenor for male singers. Singers comfortable in high register, singers comfortable in the low register and singers comfortable in the mid register. This is not to say that they don’t sing the other registers, it is just their comfortable range and hence songs are chosen to suit the voice.

The tenor is the highest male voice in the modal register. Typically the tenor voice lies between C3, the C one octave below middle C, to the A above middle C (A4) in the choral music, and upto high C (C5) in solo singing. The low register for tenors is B♭2 (two B♭s below middle C). At the highest register, some tenors can sing up to two F’s above middle C (F5).

Learning how to sing tenor is not such an easy thing. In musical groups and choirs the singers are split into four parts. The tenor sings the high register, while the bass singers sing the low register. The tenors are sometimes divided into two sections with one section singing the highest range and the other section singing the slightly lower range.
