Beyonce Singing Voice: Beating Hip-Hop Beats

Beyonce Giselle Knowles is a famous American singer specializing in R&B, model, actress, song writer and record producer who is also mononymously known as Beyonce and the main person behind the Beyonce singing voice. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas and enrolled in different schools of art. She was first introduced to dancing and singing competitions while she was still a child. Beyonce gained fame in the later years of the 1990s when she was a lead singer for R&B girl group, “Destiny’s child”.

James Anthony from The Guardian referred to Beyonce singing voice as being distinctive and fast and had a vocal technique that was almost hiccupping. There are certain critics who applauded her power and range. While reviewing Beyonce’s second album known as B’Day, Jody Rosen from Entertainment Weekly described Beyonce as the storm system camouflaged in form of a singer. In that second album, the songs are presented in huge gusts filled with emotion and rhythm, with Beyonce singing voice rippling over the clattery beats, you would have to look far maybe in the Metropolitan Opera walls to come across a vocalist with an ability to sing with more force …None – not even R. KellyUsher or is able to do that, not to mention the pop divas who rival her – are able to match up to the genius of Beyonce of being able to drag vocal lines  against the beat of hip hop.

Chris Richards from Washington Post writes that even while Beyonce is coasting she is still able to soar above all those who imitate her. It is all in Beyonce singing voice- an extraordinary instrument with the ability to punctuate whatever beat with quality diva roar or goose bump stimulating whispers. Antagonistic, smitten, amorous or scorned, Beyonce is able to sing from all of these points with virtuosity that is undeniable.

Knowles was ranked at position seven out of a list of “Outstanding 100 Pop Vocalists”, which gave her 48 points out of a maximum of 50, which was based upon various criteria that ranged from her vocal range to harmony to ability. Many times Beyonce Knowles has been criticized that she over sings. Beyonce, a well known melisma employer is often compared to artists like Mariah Carey, who sometimes produces vocal embellishments that detract from the song’s melody.

According to Eye Weekly, there is no doubt that Beyonce singing voice might be the best voice and perhaps she is amongst the best pop singers still living. Nevertheless, even though her singing can be judicious, its effect in total can be compared to hitting the head with a velvet gloved fist.

Beyonce’s music is regarded as being predominantly contemporary R&B, although it incorporates soul, funk, pop and dance-pop. Even though she releases exclusively English songs, Beyonce recorded Spanish records that were released again in her second album B’Day. At the time, Destiny’s child had recorded a song in Spanish and had gained several responses from their Latin fans. When she was still young Knowles learnt Spanish in school but today she can only say a few words. Before she recorded the Spanish songs for the new B’Day version, she was coached on phonetics by Rudy Perez, the American producer and this has enabled her to maintain her impressive Beyonce singing voice.
