How to become a Successful Studio Singer

You can reach your dream of becoming a successful studio singer. It takes time and work to build your reputation, though. How do you make a career as a successful studio singer? Well, let’s explore some tips to get you on your road to studio singing success.

If you want to be a successful studio singer, talent is key factor. That’s not to say that you can’t improve your singing, though. There are many different types of singers and each has their own unique qualities, as far as vocal talents. Husky, gritty sounding singers often do lead vocals. Although, sometimes they are asked to sing in groups to add kick to the performance. Singers who are better at blending in tend to do backup singing. They get a lot of session work, but rarely sing lead.  Then there are specialty singers. Those are people that really don’t fit well in either category. They tend to have very unique voices and get called in for very specific studio singing jobs.

You can be a successful studio singer, no matter which category you fit in. No one type of singer is more important than another. However, you need to identify which studio singing niche you fit into, if you really want to be a successful studio singer. Once you do that, opportunities will pop up easier for you.

To be successful studio singer, you also need to have a lot of practice, a lot of patience, good people skills and, especially, an excellent demo. Most people have no idea how to create a demo. Your demo should sound like you’ve already been in the business for years, if you truly want to be a successful studio singer. There is just too much competition in the studio singing market for you to submit a demo that is simply “ok”. You really need to impress the producers.  Our goal is to help you do exactly that.

After you have your demo reel ready to go, the next step toward becoming a successful studio singer is to learn how to market your talents. You have to submit your demo to as many producers, production companies and music houses as you can. You can even give your demo to other singers. Just be sure that they aren’t your competition. You have to be able to keep in touch with all of those people through telephone, e-mail and letters. Keep them all informed about what you are doing.

In short, keep records. Be sure to send follow up reels and notes to everyone that you contacted initially. Make sure you have everyone’s contact information handy. That can be a major tool for securing work. In fact, it may be the most important thing for you to know about becoming a successful studio singer.

Hi, Onesia

A singer who know how to write his own song is going to get more famous easier. However, song writing is very difficult for most singers.

You need to be trained well to write a soulful song. Here is the program I found helpful to me…
