6 Useful Voice Singing Tips

Tip #1: Your breath. If you do not breathe properly, it means you will not use your voice to maximum potential. If you want to know if you are breathing well as required when singing, put your hand onto your stomach, thereafter inhale. The hand should not move out of place – your stomach has to expand, but not your chest and ribcage. This is because your diaphragm should be able to sustain your breath that is the muscle that below your lungs which inflates your breathe. The abdominal muscles enhance the diaphragm to carry-out its activities; additionally the diaphragm is stronger than all muscles between the ribs – muscles being used in the chest and not your stomach expand when you are breathing.

Tip #2: Emphasis on posture. Breathe starts from your lungs and then moves through to your mouth. If this passage is bent, twisted, or even blocked in some way, breathe may not get out effectively. Your standing position has a great impact on your sound. You have to stand with legs wide apart almost the same width as your shoulders. Your chest needs to be elevated to a level which will provide your legs enough space to expand. You need to relax your shoulders as well as put them in a backward position.

Tip #3: You need to watch your diet.
Nothing will work best for your voice if not water, period! In case you are going to perform soon, stay away from thick drinks and even diary products for maybe three days before your performance. You should only drink water on the day you are going to perform.

Tip #4: Avoid Straining your vocal chord. Give your body maximum care and attention. If you feel something hurts each time you sing, then maybe you are at the top of your vocal range or there is something you must be doing wrong. You have to be capable of singing strongly and healthy if you are maintaining your breathe well, if anything hurts due to singing loudly, there is a possibility that your voice is not being supported by your breath – vocal cords usually do most of the work.

Tip #5: Warm up before singing. Never get straight to singing without warming up your voice first. Good warm-up routines have to focus on getting your body to relax as well as prepare your breath, always begin with simple and deep breaths. From their advance to simple humming, thereafter scale work when you feel that you are ready. Most importantly, avoid over straining when warming up- do not go for notes which you are not comfortable with, and stop singing with at the highest volume.

I personally agree with all the above. It took me a long time to discover it to be honest. Figured out from my singing tutor in the end.

Was having real trouble with creating an image and a persona. And what songs I sang good and bad!!! I just can’t work it out myself, sounds the same in my head!
