IN both female and male singing voices there basically three types. There are some differences on how to sing tenor for male singers. Singers comfortable in high register, singers comfortable in the low register and singers comfortable in the mid register. This is not to say that they don’t sing the other registers, it is just their comfortable range and hence songs are chosen to suit the voice.
The tenor is the highest male voice in the modal register. Typically the tenor voice lies between C3, the C one octave below middle C, to the A above middle C (A4) in the choral music, and upto high C (C5) in solo singing. The low register for tenors is B♭2 (two B♭s below middle C). At the highest register, some tenors can sing up to two F’s above middle C (F5).
Learning how to sing tenor is not such an easy thing. In musical groups and choirs the singers are split into four parts. The tenor sings the high register, while the bass singers sing the low register. The tenors are sometimes divided into two sections with one section singing the highest range and the other section singing the slightly lower range.
