Voice care is the most important task for a singer. As a singer, you must be able to understand and identify the factors that affecting your singing voice and the steps to solve them.
1) The disparity between singing and speaking pitch may lead to voice problem. It’s because the Sopranos with natural speaking voices are considered very low in pitch as compared to the singing voices.
Furthermore, some researches found that speaking in a low pitch is the main factor of the vocal problems. It will cause strain since you need more energy and muscle to speak at low pitches.
2) Vocal fatigue is one of the biggest problems for voice care. It may lead to incorrect voice use, misuse, abuse, or organic or functional problems. If you are in the vocal fatigue condition, your voice may be feeling very tired and full and dry when speaking, and an aching throat. As a result, you will need extra efforts when talking or singing.
3) Heartburn or other symptoms of stomach acid reflux can affect your voice and vocal quality too. In this situation, there is a possibility that 2 gastric acids called “Gastroesophageal” and “gastrolaryngeal” reflux pushes up the esophagus and may even reach the larynx. And it might lead to a serious voice and health problems.
4) The other common causes of voice problems are harshness, halitosis, sore throat, bitter taste, dry mouth, cough during sleep, chronic throat clearing, phlegm, prolonged warm-up time for singers, and a sensation of a lump in the throat.
In conclusion, you have to consult your voice coach or teacher if the problems listed above unsolved. Anyway, a task to singing voice care is the most fundamental task for you a singer to keep sparking in the singing arena.
