Improve Your Singing Vocal and Become a Vocal Powerhouse!
Have you ever been told that, if you do a singing vocal in a certain genre, you’ll destroy your voice? Whether it’s Rock, Metal or even Gospel, there’s always some supposed singing vocal teacher out there ready to put out the spark. Don’t let them stop you. You really can improve vocal voice without sacrificing vocal health!
The sounds you make don’t matter as much as the ways in which you make them. While “hard” singing, sometimes called “belting”, does require your voice to be more full and rich, that doesn’t mean you have to
strain. Here are some ways to sing in the genre you want, improve your singing vocal capabilities and keep those “vocal teachers” from being right, all at the same time.
First, in order to improve vocal voice, you need to understand what causes “hard” singing to damage vocal chords. It’s not volume that causes strain. Muscle tension is the true culprit.
Muscle tension can happen in many places, when you are singing. Your jaw, face, tongue and lips can all develop tension, as you sing. In fact, even your stomach can tense up. You wouldn’t think it, but all of that can cause a horrible singing vocal. That’s what causes vocal blow-out, temporary vocal fatigue and other major problems. The trick is to control your muscles and keep them as relaxed as you can. Then you can sing whatever genre and volume of music that you want to safely and comfortably.
Second, keep in mind that taking in too much air when you sing can also cause a problem. Every sound you make needs air, but some sounds require more or less than others. So, learning to control your air flow is a great way that you can improve vocal voice. It can cause unnecessary and harmful muscle tension, if you have improper air flow.
The Deva Method® includes all of the exercises that you need to control air flow. It’s so easy that you won’t even have to consciously think about breathing, after you’ve mastered it. Knowing that, you can trust your voice during any performance. The results will show in the form of a great performance, which will capture your audience.
Third, remember that, if you seek to improve vocal voice, you have to both warm up and cool down. Many singers forget the second part. Consider yourself an athlete. Any successful athlete has to stretch and relieve tension slowly after an event.
Finally, remember that some performances just require more time and training than others. Picture an athlete again. A smart athlete would not attempt to run a marathon without extensive training. So, you shouldn’t bite of more than you can chew either. Patience is key.
So, keep all of that in mind. By following those simple tips, you can keep your audiences enthralled. They’ll be begging for more. So, take the time to learn the proper singing techniques and your singing vocal abilities are sure to improve!
