Are vocal warm-ups just wasting your time? What’s the feeling when you hear someone sing perfectly? You might say to yourself, “Oh, dear… She is singing like an angel” In fact, do you know what she was done before singing performance? It’s is what we called sufficient “vocal warm-ups exercises”. There must a series of vocal training exercises and warm ups prior any great singing performance.
You must consider singing as a sport. You need to keep training yourself and
doing exercises to improve your performance. For instant, would you expect a professional swimmer to swim in competition without any warm-ups exercises? Absolutely not!
In any possible circumstances, you must remember to do sufficient vocal warm-ups exercises on a regular basis via vocal training exercises. The advantages of doing this kid of exercises are it’s allowing you to calm yourself, strengthen your vocal chords and larynx muscles. But, please remember not to do vocal warm-ups I the hurry or rush circumstances. Just do it in the relaxing and calm condition.
Every singer might have their own vocal warm-up methods. Some start by exercising their entire bodies, some might focusing on their articulation muscles.
However, in my opinion, it’s better to start your vocal warm-ups exercises by exercising your mid-range voice and then followed by to lower and upper registers. No matter how you choose to begin, it is a good idea to begin your vocal training exercises by starting in your mid-range voice and moving to your lower and upper registers. Previous research showed that huge changes between high to low and low to high may destroy your vocal chord muscles. Therefore, it’s better to do vocal warm-ups prior any practicing of such extreme pitch leaps.
Please remember to practice the vocal warm-ups exercise consistently. I’m sure you will notice some great improvement on your voice quality by practicing vocal training exercises on a regular basis for several months from now.
